Behind the Design

Furukawashiko partnered with illustrator valo to bring the Gochisou series to life. Valo's work centers on food illustrations drawn with warm, approachable linework: bakery trays, dessert plates, small snacks, and the quiet pleasures of a meal. The memo pads use Mino Washi, a paper with roots in Gifu Prefecture and a history stretching back over 1,300 years. Mino Washi is known for its fine grain and gentle feel under the hand, which makes it an unusual but fitting choice for a small memo pad meant to be written on every day.

The four designs in the series each capture a different food moment: Gokigen Bakery focuses on breads and pastries, Tokimeki Dessert on sweets, Chokotto Oyatsu on light snacks, and Plate Jikan on a laid table. Each pack mixes six of valo's illustrations across the sheets, so no two pulls from the pad look the same.

Each pack contains six breakfast and sweets designs printed on Mino Washi, a traditional Japanese paper prized for its soft texture. The set comes from a collaboration with valo, an illustrator known for cheerful food motifs. Each design is sold separately, so you can collect the one that suits you or grab them all.
