Behind the Design

Most standard rulers start at zero at the very edge, which causes problems when a student wants to draw a line from a specific margin rather than measure a raw distance. Sonic addressed this by including two scales on a single ruler: a margin scale offset from the edge for ruling lines, and a zero-start scale for straightforward measurement.

The color-coded design separates these two scales visually so students can quickly identify which side to use without re-reading every mark. At 2mm thick, the ruler sits flat and stable. The included name sticker is a small but useful detail for classroom environments where identical supplies end up in a pile.
