Behind the Design

The FOREST CALENDAR is built around an accumulative structure that most desk calendars ignore. Instead of flipping or discarding pages as months pass, you layer each new two-month cover on top of the previous one. The tree illustration is distributed across these covers so that by the end of the year, the full stack of paper reveals a tree that has visibly grown from base to canopy.

Both the paper and the wooden base carry forest certification, including wood sourced from Tokyo's own managed forests. Screen foil processing gives the calendar a tactile finish that catches light differently depending on the angle. The result is an object that changes physically over the course of the year, rather than one that simply counts down.
