Hanakoyomi (花暦) translates literally as "flower calendar" — a classical Japanese concept of marking the passage of time through the blooming cycle of seasonal plants. This 2027 wall calendar revives that tradition in a contemporary format, pairing each month with a botanically inspired illustration rendered in the muted, layered tones that washi paper naturally lends itself to.

The paper itself is made by hand using bamboo and cotton fibers, a process that leaves each sheet with subtle variations in texture and weight. Because every calendar is pressed individually by craftsmen, the color and surface character shift slightly from piece to piece.
