Behind the Design

This Deco Paper Set is part of Furukawashiko's collaboration with Aya Inoue, an illustrator known for detailed, nostalgic depictions of sweets and food. Each design in this series centers on a classic dessert, Victoria Cake, Parfait, Sundae, and Trifle, rendered in a style that draws from vintage European confectionery imagery.

The sheets are printed on washi, a traditional Japanese paper with a soft, slightly textured surface that takes well to layering and tearing. Because washi is thinner and more fibrous than standard paper, cut edges feel organic rather than sharp, which suits collage and journaling work. Each set contains three sheets with assorted motifs from within the chosen design, so no two arrangements come out the same.

Each set contains three sheets of washi paper illustrated by Japanese artist Aya Inoue, featuring sweets in a retro style. Use them whole, torn, or cut into pieces for journaling, collage, or wrapping. Four dessert designs are available: Victoria Cake, Parfait, Sundae, and Trifle.
