Behind the Design

The Country Time series pairs Takiko Kuroiwa's watercolor work with a monthly calendar format. Kuroiwa's illustrations follow the seasons: mimosa and lemon-yellow peonies open January, jasmine arrives in July, purple scabiosa with autumn raspberry leaves marks October, and a wreath of mistletoe and cotton closes out December.

MIDORI's production team worked to reproduce the watercolor's color gradients and brushwork accurately in print, adjusting illustration placement and ink density so the artwork frames rather than overlaps the date grid. The plain reverse side keeps options open for notes or memos. The S size adds index tabs along the edge for quick month navigation.

A ring-bound desk calendar featuring watercolor floral illustrations by Takiko Kuroiwa, with a different seasonal bouquet for each month of 2027. The illustrations are placed and color-balanced so they stay out of the way of your writing. Comes in two sizes, both starting January 2027.
