MIDORI's Wall Calendar L series pairs large, seasonal illustrations with functional monthly grids, and the 2027 Cat Pattern edition brings in illustrator Sayo Koizumi, who drew every page from genuine affection for cats rather than from a design brief.

Each month's illustration depicts a domestic cat in a scene tied to that season, and because the image changes monthly, the calendar functions as a slow-reveal art series across the year. The ruling, date numbers, and month labels are all hand-drawn rather than typeset, which softens the grid and keeps the tone closer to a sketchbook than an office tool.

The back of December includes a column called "Stories About Cat Coat Patterns," covering personality tendencies associated with different coat markings, a detail that reflects how thoroughly the cat theme runs through the product. Rokuyou, the traditional six-day Japanese calendar cycle still consulted for scheduling significant events, is also displayed alongside the standard dates.
