The original PATAP Bookmarker launched in October 2025 and quickly attracted attention for its mechanical gimmick: a silicone tab that flips to the open page automatically each time you turn a leaf, so you never lose your place mid-read. It picked up awards and media coverage across TV and social platforms, leading Nakabayashi to develop a second edition.

For the follow-up, they leaned into the very specific feeling of reading or studying while a cat plants itself on the desk and makes itself the center of attention. The silicone tab is shaped like a cat paw, complete with a raised pawpad relief on the reverse side. The four colorways each correspond to common Japanese cat coat patterns: Mike (calico), Sabatora (mackerel tabby), Chatori (brown tabby), and Kutsushita (tuxedo, named for the white-socked look). Because silicone patterning varies slightly in production, no two bookmarks are identical, even within the same color.
