Behind the Design

Mino Washi is a traditional Japanese paper produced in Mino City, Gifu Prefecture, with a history stretching back over 1,300 years. It holds UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage status alongside just two other Japanese papermaking traditions. The paper is known for its soft texture, subtle translucency, and quiet strength compared to standard machine-made sheets.

Furukawashiko brought this heritage material into an origami format, pairing it with gentle floral and classic Japanese motifs. The result folds cleanly while retaining the characteristic feel of washi. The boxed set of six designs was put together with gifting in mind: compact enough to tuck into a bag, varied enough to offer a real range of patterns in a single purchase.
