ICHIKUDO created the BENTO CALENDAR to carry the culture of Japanese bento beyond Japan's borders. The format is straightforward: 12 cards, one per month, each photographing a bento built around seasonal ingredients and a specific event on the Japanese calendar. January gets osechi, May features a children's bento, and December arrives with a Christmas-themed box.

The packaging itself is part of the concept. The case is molded pulp shaped to resemble a bento lunchbox, so the object on your desk already communicates the idea before you flip to any card.

This 2027 edition comes in two versions. The Standard edition works through representative Japanese bento dishes month by month, with the menu printed on the back of each card and recipes accessible via QR code. The second version, supervised by chef Masahiro Kasahara, draws recipes from his book "Japanese Restaurant's Japanese Bento" (Shufunotomo-sha), bringing a restaurant-kitchen perspective to the same month-by-month format.
