The [Art Touch] project is TOUCH & FLOW's ongoing effort to bring fine art into everyday formats, commissioning artists from various fields to produce postcards, prints, and paper goods. For this series, they worked with illustrator Nonoko Sato, born 1993, whose commercial work spans literary magazine inserts and book cover illustrations.

Sato's originals for these four designs were built up physically: Western paper and waxed paper colored with colored pencils, cut and pasted into collages, then finished with layers of oil pastel. The technique gives the final image a tactile quality that reproduces unusually well in print. Foil stamping on the message text adds a finish that reads as considered rather than decorative.

The four designs, Birthday, Sheet Music, Flower Encyclopedia, and Narcissus, each draw on Sato's recurring motifs: flowers, figures, and the kind of quiet scenes that suggest a story without spelling one out.
