Behind the Design

The Art Touch project from TOUCH & FLOW is built around a simple idea: bring original art into daily life at postcard scale. For this series, they collaborated with Miltata, an illustrator based in Japan who studied at Nagoya University of Arts and Sciences before working at Jun Aoki architecture office, then shifting fully to illustration.

The series opens with two swag designs, botanical arrangements rendered in Miltata's distinct graphic style. The remaining six cards depict animals drawn as if lifted from an illustrated encyclopedia: a squirrel, penguin, deer, bird, rabbit, and pig, each precise and considered in detail. The prompt behind the animal cards was to imagine close friends, then choose which animal to send them. That framing turns a postcard purchase into a small act of characterisation.

Eight postcards illustrated by Miltata, a Japanese freelance illustrator whose client list includes Kirin and Tsuchiya Kaban. Two designs feature swag arrangements, and six feature animals drawn in the style of natural history encyclopedia plates. Each is standard postcard size, ready to mail.
