Behind the Design

MARU is an illustrator who studied visual design at Joshibi University of Art and Design. A study abroad period in the UK during her studies led her to pursue illustration professionally. After graduating, she became an official creator for FUDGE.jp under the name "FUDGENA," contributing a regular series pairing coffee and food through illustration. She now works across web, magazine, and advertising collaborations.

For this postcard series, MARU brought her fashion-forward sensibility to a deceptively simple idea: everyday objects reimagined as flower vases. A pair of high heels, a Lithuanian woven basket, a vintage typewriter, a ceramic teapot, and a tomato can each become the vessel for a floral arrangement. The result is a set of cards that feel both graphic and warm. Two designs go a step further with foil stamping, adding a tactile finish to the occasion-specific messages they carry.

A collaboration between TOUCH & FLOW and illustrator MARU, these postcards turn everyday objects (high heels, a teapot, a typewriter) into imaginative flower vases. Two of the designs include foil stamping: "Happy Birthday" on the high heel card and "Thank you" on the teapot card.
