Ayako Iwagami completed the Illustration Aoyama Juku program before establishing herself as a freelance illustrator. Her work centers on a single theme: paintings that evoke a story. Rather than illustrating explicit narratives, she builds atmosphere through figures, flora, and a distinctly soft palette, leaving just enough space for the viewer to step into the image and finish the story themselves.

The Art Touch series is a project by TOUCH & FLOW that pairs their production sensibility with artists whose work rewards slow looking. Iwagami's contribution to the series spans nine designs, each named after a plant, a fairy tale, or a quietly charged word like "Himitsu" (Secret) or "Maihime" (Dancing Princess). The titles function less as descriptions and more as invitations. Her main professional output includes book cover illustrations, novel inserts, and corporate calendars, and that experience with narrative framing is visible in every card.
