Home Home Note Guide

Your New Habit of Self-Kindness Starts Here

In a world that often asks us to do more and be more, the Home Home Note invites you to simply notice the good that’s already there. Each day, you’ll write 10 small compliments to yourself. Little by little, this daily practice shifts your gaze away from what’s missing and toward what’s abundant within you. The name Home Home comes from the Japanese word “homeru” (ほめる) , which means to “praise” — a gentle reminder that small affirmations have great power. Home Home Note is more than a notebook. It’s a soft space to celebrate yourself, exactly as you are.

How to Use the Home Home Note

Day Pages

Each day, write 10 things you want to praise yourself for.
There are 30 days of entries.

You can write about anything — something you did, something you noticed about yourself, or something you already have. It’s okay to praise the same things as yesterday.

Here‘s an example written by a Bungu member.

Checkpoints:

You’ll find reflection pages* after Days 3, 10, 20, and 30.

Each includes a short message to help you pause, reflect, and breathe.
Take these moments to look back on how you're feeling and what’s changed.

*These messages are written in Japanese.

What Kind of Things Can I Praise?

At first, many people say, “There’s no way I can come up with 10 things.”

With just a bit of practice, anyone can become skilled at praising themselves.

You, too, have things worth praising. You just may not have noticed them yet.

Here are some simple tips to help you get started:

Tip 1: Praise what you’re already doing

Instead of waiting until you reach a big goal, praise what you have already done today.

Examples:
- I got up feeling refreshed
- I cleaned the bathroom
- I folded the laundry

Tip 2: Praise the small things

We often struggle to praise ourselves because we think we have to accomplish something big first. Lower the bar and allow yourself to recognize little efforts.

Examples:
- I smiled today
- I took care of myself by resting
- I made it through the day feeling okay

Tip 3: Don’t compare yourself to others

You might think, “I can’t do it like someone else,” but look at yourself with kindness — even trying is worth praise.

Examples:
- I gave up my seat on the train
- I bought something that brought me joy
- I listened to good music and felt moved

At the bottom of each Day page, you'll also find real praise entries from others under the section みんなのほめノート, “Everyone’s Home Home Notes.”

More Self-Praise Ideas
Focus on what you already have or do naturally!

Examples:
- I’m a good cook
- I have a supportive family
- I’m empathetic and kind
- I know what I like and dislike
- I’m still here, doing my best

There is no “right” reason to praise yourself.
You don’t need to earn it.
The most important thing is to treat yourself as someone worth noticing and appreciating.

Features of the Home Home Note

  • Smooth, Bleed-Resistant Paper

Since this notebook is for writing words of praise to yourself, the paper was chosen carefully.

The notebook uses “Cream Kinmari” paper, known for its gentle cream color and smooth writing texture. Your pen will glide nicely, without slipping, making your handwriting feel more beautiful. The color is easy on the eyes, especially at night, so that you can write before bed without strain.

It pairs well with all kinds of pens — even fountain pens or high-quality gel pens.
The slightly thicker paper also prevents ink from bleeding through.

Each day’s entry will feel pleasant and stress-free.

  • Elegant Gold-Foiled Cover

The cover uses “Sagan GA” paper, which is also used for premium gift boxes.
It features a lightly embossed surface for a refined texture, and the title is stamped in foil for a clean, minimalist design.

Available in three calming color options:
- Platinum White
- Royal Blue
- Camel

  • Calming Endpaper Texture

The inner cover uses NT Rasha paper, a soft, textured material that resembles warm, woven fabric. This paper creates a feeling of quiet reflection when you open the notebook. Its subtle texture helps you gently shift your mood as you prepare to write.

  • Flat-Lay Binding (180° Opening)

The notebook is bound with “thread binding,” which allows it to open fully and lie flat on any surface.
This makes writing easier and prevents pages from flipping shut on it's own.
It’s a durable binding often used in planners and books and is meant for long-term use.

  • Rounded Corners for Softness and Durability

The corners are softly rounded to prevent bending or tearing over time.
This gives the notebook a gentle look and helps preserve its form, perfect for saving and revisiting after you’ve filled its pages.
