Behind the Design

The JF-0.5 refill was developed specifically for the Sarasa Clip, one of Zebra's most widely used gel pens. Rather than relying on dye-based ink, Zebra chose water-based pigment ink for this refill. The difference matters: pigment particles sit on the paper surface and bond more securely than dissolved dyes, giving the ink strong resistance to water and light exposure over time.

The 0.5mm tip size sits in the middle of the Sarasa Clip lineup, balancing line precision with a writing feel that stays smooth across both plain and ruled paper. At 111.1mm, the refill fits snugly into the Sarasa Clip barrel without rattling, and the 6.1mm maximum diameter keeps it seated correctly in the tip housing.

A direct replacement refill for the Zebra Sarasa Clip gel pen, in a 0.5mm tip. The water-based pigment ink resists both water and fading, so notes written today stay readable long after the page dries.
