Most writing mats are designed around general note-taking, but WRITING MAT's Lettering series was developed specifically for calligraphy and hand lettering practice. The 60-degree diagonal guide lines address one of the most common frustrations in lettering: maintaining consistent character angle and spacing across a page without relying on pre-printed paper.

Each guide line is hand-printed by craftsmen rather than machine-stamped, which gives the lines a slight tactile presence without interrupting pen flow. The sheet is sized at A4+ (306 × 228mm), a few millimeters larger than standard A4, so the mat extends beyond the paper edge and prevents nibs and pen tips from catching on a hard edge mid-stroke.

The 2mm recycled PVC construction is thick enough to cushion pen pressure and prevent slipping, while the smooth surface texture allows natural variation in line weight. The matte black finish absorbs stray ink and lead marks so the guide lines stay readable through extended use. The PRO edition builds on this foundation with refinements suited to more advanced lettering work.
