Behind the Design

Most greeting cards are one-use objects: sent, read, and shelved. This card was designed to do two things equally well. The thick clear PET body with full-surface silver foil is printable enough to carry bold illustrations, yet transparent enough to catch and scatter light when propped on a windowsill or desk.

The mailing system is built in: a window-style address sticker (PP exterior) attaches to the card, a 140-yen stamp goes on, and it drops straight into a mailbox. Because the envelope is transparent, postal regulations classify it as non-standard mail rather than a postcard. Rounded corners on the PP bag prevent tearing in transit.

The stained glass designs (TOC-23 Hot Air Balloon, TOC-24 Space) were specifically developed to express the layered shimmer of real stained glass, using the foil and transparency together rather than as separate effects. Illustrations across the range are by Hono.T.

A clear PET card printed in full color with full-surface silver foil, it works as both a mailable greeting card and a light-catching desk decoration.
