TAISEI (Taisei Shiki Seisakusho) built its expertise in paper container manufacturing, working with structural forms, folds, and material behavior at an engineering level. The MONEY ENVELOPE applies that same discipline to the shugi-bukuro, the traditional Japanese celebratory gift envelope.

Conventional shugi-bukuro are often decorated with elaborate mizuhiki, the twisted paper cord arrangements that signify occasion and formality. They are beautiful, but the cord constructions make recycling difficult and can feel fussy in modern contexts. TAISEI's interpretation strips those elements away and instead uses the geometry of the envelope form itself, and a considered accent color, to carry the sense of occasion.

The included seals are finished with debossing: a process that presses indentations into the paper surface without ink or foil. When you write your name or apply a seal, the shallow shadow of the debossed guide sits underneath, lending a tactile, considered quality to what is otherwise a simple act. It is a quietly precise detail, the kind that comes from a manufacturer thinking about paper as a structural and sensory material, not just a surface.
