Behind the Design

The Animal Adventure Club Stand Memo is built around a simple structural idea: a die-cut fold at the base of the pad that lets it stand upright on a flat surface. When propped open, the cut portion reveals an illustration that reads as a small scene rather than just a sheet of paper.

The Animal Adventure Club series by illustrator Ryoji Nakajima imagines various animals taking part in outdoor activities across four themes: Mountain, Water, Camp, and Sports. The series was designed to bring a light, atmospheric quality to everyday desk objects, turning a basic message-leaving tool into something worth keeping on display between uses.

A memo pad that folds along a cut line to stand upright on your desk, with an illustration that pops up when the pad is open. Four designs feature animals enjoying the outdoors: a bear at camp, a penguin near water, a polar bear in the mountains, and an owl doing sports. Illustrated by Ryoji Nakajima.
