About Postcard
In “Warrior of the North Pole,” I imagined what it would be like if the story of Santa Claus was set in Japan during the turbulent Sengoku period. Winters must have been bitterly harsh and cold then, and I wanted to reflect that atmosphere instead of the usual cheerful spirit associated with Christmas. At the center of the illustration is an armor-clad warrior accompanied by his two loyal reindeer, carrying the season’s gifts through the snowstorm with quiet determination.
