The WRITING MAT is part of Kyoei Plastic's Kiwami series, a line built around the single question of what a writing mat can be when every variable is treated as a design decision. Thickness, hardness, and surface texture were each tuned to produce a specific pen-to-paper feel rather than left as manufacturing defaults.

The grid on the front surface is hand-printed one sheet at a time, a choice that preserves line sharpness and contrast. Those lines function as centering guides for handwriting inside a planner, where the ruled pages beneath can make it hard to judge spacing and alignment. Flip the mat over and the surface is plain, for users who prefer an unobstructed view.

The 6-hole slit configuration mirrors the standard Bible-size planner ring layout, so the mat loads and unloads the same way as a refill sheet. The recycled PVC material carries a matte finish that resists paper slip without any coating that would wear unevenly over time. The result is a mat sized to travel inside the planner rather than sit beneath it.
