The G Scraper was designed around a specific constraint: standard scrapers are angled too steeply for flat glass surfaces, and their carbon steel blades risk leaving scratches or corroding in wet conditions. OLFA addressed this with a low-profile body geometry that keeps the blade nearly parallel to the surface, reducing the chance of gouging.

The choice of stainless steel for both the blade and all internal metal components goes beyond corrosion resistance. It also ensures the tool holds up against the solvents often used in glass cleaning and surface preparation, areas where standard tool materials fail quickly. The resin parts use glass fiber-reinforced polypropylene for the same reason: better chemical resistance than standard PP.

The curved body with its large center hole supports multiple grip positions and can accept a drop-prevention lanyard, a feature aimed at professional use on ladders or elevated work areas. The blade cover locks onto the rear of the body while working, so it stays with the tool rather than being set aside and lost on a job site.
