The idea behind this pad is disarmingly simple: a desk message that refuses to be ignored. Fold the sheet in half and the die-cut silhouette springs upright, turning a flat note into a small standing figure. The challenge is in the cutting. Marumo Printing developed proprietary die-cutting techniques specifically to produce the kind of fine, intricate outlines that most standard processes cannot hold cleanly in paper.

The Japanese motif designs were chosen to give the pad broad appeal as both an everyday desk tool and a souvenir or gift item. Each design references a recognizable icon of Japanese culture, from the geometric precision of a shuriken to the soft curves of a goldfish. The paper itself was selected with equal care: b7 Natural, a sheet known among stationery users for its pleasant writing surface and resistance to ink bleed-through, keeping notes clean and legible whether written in ballpoint, gel, or fountain pen ink.
