Tokyo Cartographic designed this deck around a simple observation: children learn geography best when there is a game at stake. Each of Japan's 47 prefectures gets its own card, printed with the prefecture's outline silhouette alongside key statistics like population and total area. Because the shapes are the focus, players naturally start recognizing Hokkaido's sprawl or Okinawa's narrow arc without drilling from a textbook.

The four included game formats range from straightforward matching to more competitive play, so the deck works across different age groups and attention spans. The bundled A2 poster gives players a reference map during games, then flips over to a tourist-spot version that adds a second layer of discovery. The QR-linked roulette app extends play beyond the physical cards, offering a digital karuta mode that works well for solo study or classroom use.
