Casta was designed by S. Nakagawa with a tripod structure that changes how scissors work at a fundamental level. Traditional scissors rely on a sustained pinching motion, which can be tiring or even impossible for people with reduced grip strength, arthritis, or motor limitations. Casta replaces that motion with a single downward press: squeeze once, and the blades close; release, and a spring mechanism returns them to the open position.

The cover is not just a safety cap to be removed before use. It was engineered to allow cutting while still attached, which removes a step from the workflow and keeps the blade protected between cuts. The tripod form distributes finger contact across three points rather than two loops, spreading pressure more evenly across the hand. The result is a scissors that works for a broader range of users without sacrificing cutting performance.
