Behind the Design

The Maru Memo started with a simple question: what if a memo pad had no top or bottom? By applying bookbinding techniques typically reserved for fine-print production, Marumo Printing was able to bind a stack of circular sheets into a tight, stable pad that sits flat on any surface.

The double-sided print is a considered detail. The front face carries the full design, while the reverse uses a lighter version of the same pattern so the ink doesn't compete with whatever you're writing. The result is a pad that functions just as well as a decorative object as it does a writing surface, whether it's sitting on a desk, a kitchen counter, or doubling as a coaster between uses.
