Behind the Design

Guu Insha (ぐう印舎) is a stamp brand under Kinokosya built around one premise: what if your habit tracker could be honest? The mascot is a listless Tibetan sand fox, and the brand's tagline is "gently affirming even the days you can't try hard."

The Gutara Hanko (Lazy Stamp) series grew across several pop-up events in Japan. The original core set introduced phrases like "Done," "Did a Little," and "Probably Done" for anyone who has ever stretched the truth in a planner. Later series leaned further into the absurd: "Force Majeure" and "Left It to the Universe" for days when accountability feels like a stretch. The newest Cycling Operations Five Magistrates series, first sold at Bungu Joshi Haku in Hakata in 2026, adds economic metaphors like "Living Hand to Mouth" and "Today's Mood is Market Price."

Each stamp is made with a wooden handle and rubber face, sized at 18mm square to drop cleanly into the monthly box of most calendar and diary formats. The retro round face with reversed white text gives the stamps a mid-century official look that makes the absurd phrases even funnier in context.

A self-affirmation stamp series built around the idea of gently logging even the days you didn't try. The 18mm square face fits neatly into calendar and diary monthly boxes, and the phrases range from "Done" to "No Memory of It" to "Left It to the Universe."
