This calendar series was conceived in 2020, when the spread of COVID-19 brought international travel to a halt. The idea was simple: create something that kept the feeling of travel alive while the world waited for borders to reopen, and that carried a wish for people everywhere to move freely again and connect with the cultures and communities they had left behind.

Each of the 12 monthly cards is shaped and printed to resemble an airline boarding pass. When you open the card, the destination illustration pops up from the surface, turning a flat piece of paper into a small scene. Part of the charm is not knowing where next month's card will take you until you open it. The cards sit inside a suitcase-shaped box, adding to the travel theme without being gimmicky about it.

The World edition visits 12 destinations across the globe. The Japan edition was developed as inbound tourism to Japan resumed, covering 12 spots chosen by the ICHIKUDO team for their scenery, food, or cultural character. The Japan edition cards also feature a screen foil finish. The illustrations for both editions are the same as those used in earlier years of the series, with the orange interior case that returning customers will recognise.
