Hakoake (literally "box opener") was designed around a specific frustration: the cardboard box that arrives at your door with nothing sharp nearby. KOKUYO's answer was a tool that covers both steps of unpacking, scoring open the box and then snipping the straps or tags inside, without swapping tools or removing a protective cap.

The no-cap slide mechanism is central to the concept. A light press-and-slide of the handle with one hand exposes whichever mode you need. In Box Cutter Mode, a short 3mm blade protrudes just enough to score cardboard without slipping deep into contents. A guide ridge on the front of the case sits flush against the box edge to keep the cut straight. Scissors Mode handles softer cutting tasks from PP bands to hang tags.

The TRANSPARENT MECHANISM series adds a clear body so the internal slide and blade position are always visible at a glance. The handle uses R-ABS with at least 10% recycled content, and the slider uses R-POM, reflecting KOKUYO's incremental shift toward lower-impact materials in everyday tools.
