Behind the Design

The KOKUYO ME line was designed around the idea that everyday tools should reflect personal style without compromising function. Each color in the series is named rather than labeled, giving pieces a wardrobe-like quality rather than a catalog-number feel.

The Type M mechanical pencil centers on 0.7mm lead, a diameter thick enough to resist snapping under normal writing pressure, which produces a stroke closer to a wooden pencil than the scratchy feel common with 0.3mm or 0.5mm leads. The grip design addresses the tension between precision and comfort: the front hexagonal section locks your fingers into a stable writing position, while the rounder rear section relaxes the grip for longer sessions. The tapered metal tip keeps the sight line to the page clear and retracts for safety when the pencil is pocketed.

The KOKUYO ME mechanical pencil uses a 0.7mm lead that writes with the smooth, natural feel of a wooden pencil. The grip shifts from hexagonal at the front to round at the back, giving you control where you need it and comfort where you don't. The tapered metal tip retracts when not in use.
