Framing mat paper is one of those tasks where the cut angle matters as much as the cut line. A straight 90-degree cut through mat board leaves a visible white core edge around the window opening; a 45-degree bevel hides that core and draws the eye toward the artwork instead. OLFA designed the 45B specifically for this job, with a V-shaped blade that handles the geometry at both ends of a stroke so corners close up without overlap or gap.

The blade is reversible, giving two usable positions per piece and extending the life of each replacement. Five blades are included in the blister pack. A rubber anti-slip sheet for the ruler is also included, which matters because mat cutting requires firm ruler pressure and any shift ruins the bevel angle. The body is acrylic resin for visibility, and the design works for both left- and right-handed users.
