Behind the Design

Most large cutter knives use a straight handle, which means your grip has to conform to the tool. OLFA's 165B takes the opposite approach: the handle is curved in a banana profile so the knife settles into the natural resting position of your hand without adjustment.

The shape is especially relevant for heavy cutting tasks. When you're working through cardboard or thin plywood, you apply more downward force than you would with paper, and a straight handle can shift or rotate under that pressure. The curved form distributes that force more evenly across your fingers and palm.

The auto-lock mechanism addresses the other common pain point with large cutters: blade creep. A single press locks the blade firmly in place, and the same motion releases it. No separate slider to hunt for mid-cut.
