Kinokosya built this series around vulcanized fiber, a dense compressed-paper material that dates back to the 19th century and is known for being harder and more rigid than standard cardboard or plastic-coated paper. The choice of material is both a practical and philosophical one: the clips need enough structural integrity to actually hold documents together, but the team wanted to avoid plastic entirely.

Each design in the series draws from a specific slice of Showa-era Japanese nostalgia. The beaker nods to retro science classrooms, the ramune and lemon squash bottles recall summer festival stalls, the beer mug and cream soda reference kissaten café culture, and the taiyaki references the beloved street food. The shapes are die-cut to match each theme, and the packaging itself is designed as a collectible object, small enough to sit on a desk or slip into a gift.
