Fountain pen enthusiasts are notorious for accumulating more ink than they can realistically use. Nuritakurie (ぬりたくりえ, roughly "want to color it") was designed around that exact habit: give ink lovers a reason to actually open those bottles.

The cards are printed with a transparent ink that repels water. When you brush water-based fountain pen ink across the surface, the hidden design emerges in white, the ink color forming the background while the illustration or lettering pushes back against it. The effect works with any water-based ink, so every color in a collection produces a different result from the same card.

The business card format keeps things compact and collectible. Nine designs are available, ranging from geometric patterns like mandala and marbled to illustrated characters like tonolim-bear and bechori, so there is something to suit different tastes and ink moods. The series won the 2025 Tokyo Stationery Awards Collector's Choice Award, recognized for turning a very common collector's problem into a small creative ritual.
