Behind the Design

Morita Inbou has operated from Shijo Karasuma in Kyoto for 75 years, and this stamp comes from their line of character hanko designed around the idea of a "colorful life enjoying hanko."

The Naruhaya Ninja takes the everyday office phrase "naruhaya" (as soon as possible) and turns it into a visual gag: a ninja mid-sprint, kanji trailing behind like motion lines. The multi-impression technique is built into the concept. Stamp once with a freshly inked pad, then press two or three more times on the same spot without re-inking. The ink fades with each pass, producing a ghost-image blur that reads as speed. The effect is intentional, not an accident of running low on ink.

All designs are created by a dedicated in-house designer at Morita Inbou, keeping the illustration style consistent with the shop's broader range of stamps, tenugui, and masking tape.

A wood stamp from Morita Inbou that communicates urgency with a wink: the kanji for "as soon as possible" rendered as a sprinting ninja. Stamp once with ink, then press two or three more times without re-inking to leave a speed-blur afterimage trail behind the figure.
