The Batten Marker was designed around a single question: what happens if a pen tip is shaped like an X instead of a point or a chisel? The result is a tip that makes contact with paper in four distinct ways depending on angle and pressure. Hold it straight down for a stamp-like mark. Tilt it one way for a thin single line. Tilt it another way for a parallel double line. Press flat for a thick stroke. One pen, four outputs.

Sun-Star developed three set palettes to suit different use cases. Bright Candy leans into vivid, high-contrast tones for decoration and illustration work. Mellow Sweet offers softer pastel hues that sit quietly on a page without overwhelming other content. Cosmic Glow brings deeper, richer shades for bolder mark-making. The X-tip design also lends itself to check marks and notation in study and office contexts, where the double-line and stamp modes help distinguish categories of information at a glance.
